Sandra S. Dahl is the Owner/Director of Kids Express Learning Center, Inc. She is a former first grade teacher who earned a Masters and Ph.D. degree in Education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Sandra taught education courses at the University of Minnesota, Purdue, the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and University of Wisconsin-Madison before creating Kids Express Learning Center, Inc. She has authored a number of professional educational articles, created children's instructional materials and worked on the State of Wisconsin's Third Grade Reading Test. Sandra has written and hosted an educational television series on "Strategies in Reading" and was co-developer of "Storylords", a children's instructional television series. She has served on committees of local, state, national and international professional organizations and presented numerous educational workshops. Sandra was President of the Wisconsin State Reading Association and served on committees of the International Reading Association. Both of these organizations sponsor research, education, create policy and provide direction related to literacy education.

Sandra developed the concept for Kids Express Learning Center one winter afternoon while waiting for her youngest son's basketball tournament to commence. The idea began as a "one room schoolhouse" for preschoolers--a place where 'kids' could 'express' their creative ideas through interactions with peers and caring adults. Thus, the school's name, Kids Express Learning Center was chosen. The germ of an idea grew and grew through conversations with her husband, Will, and their four children, Tim, Eric, Heather and Matthew. Animals were added to the original plan for a country school, and before long, the slogan "Quality Education in a Rural Setting" was coined. Now, twelve years after opening day, Kids Express Learning Center, Inc. is home to llamas, alpacas, sheep, goats, and fish. Solid, traditional nursery, preschool and kindergarten programs are supplemented by classes in music/keyboarding,foreign language, gardening and nature study. In August of 2003, babies and toddlers joined the campus. The dream of a quality place for kids has become a reality.

Sandra loves being surrounded by her family, the staff and children of KELC, animals, gardens and flower beds, and books. She enjoys walking, dancing, planting flowers, listening to WNWC radio, reading, planning new projects for KELC and going to Badger sporting events.
