Time of Wonder, home-base to KELC's youngest preschoolers
and is a classroom filled with nooks and crannies from floor
to ceiling. Unique fans whisper breezes downward during the
children's school day while a large, wooden airplane,
suspended from rafters, adds a sense of wonder to the
environment. Each day, Time of Wonder teachers are found
working diligently to help their young charges develop
confidence, independence, curiosity, motivation and to
increase their ability to use language effectively. Every
chance they get, teachers work with children to foster
skills in cooperation, empathy and self-control.
Developmentally appropriate activities in literacy, math,
science, nature study, music and art are offered each week.
Along the way, teachers gather information on each child's
growth and development. Individual Assessment Portfolios,
filled with inventories of progress, anecdotal records, work
samples and digital memories are shared with parents during
KELC's parent/teacher conferences.
