Make Way for Ducklings is located The Dahlhouse on the west
end of KELC's campus. The classroom welcomes children who
have reached their first birthday by the beginning of an
enrollment session. This bright, cheery room that presents a
warm, welcoming space for children and their families.
Indoor and outdoor learning materials, furnishings and
equipment were selected with very young children in mind.
Developmental milestones are kept in mind as daily
activities are planned. Teachers look carefully at what
children are doing in order to plan for each child's growth.
Appropriate new challenges are presented as children show
readiness. Daily record sheets provide parents with
information about their child's day in the nursery.
Anecdotal notes, checklists recording growth and development
along with digital photos are kept in each child's
individual Assessment Portfolio. A summary of the portfolio
information is shared with parents at conference time. Make
Way for Ducklings is staffed by well-educated, dedicated and
experienced teachers who plan daily activities designed to
meet the physical, emotional, social and cognitive needs of
each child.
